Political events in the Republic of Sudan, i.e. presidential and governmental elections, raised a need in providing additional aircraft from our aviation company in order to promptly support the elections.
Two Ukrainian helicopters have temporarily been deployed from Democratic Republic of Congo to Sudan (Malakal and Wau) for providing the assistance to the United Nations observers in monitoring the elections campaign.
The presidential elections were held from April 9 to April 16. Such important for the country process passed peacefully. Preliminary results were expected to be published in April 22. It is expected that Omar Bashier, present President of the Republic of Sudan, will be reelected for the second term and remain a head of the state.
In April 25 two aircraft of "Ukrainian helicopters" will return back to their main operational bases in Democratic Republic of Congo and continue providing their support to UN mission in DRC (MONUC).
