25.06.09 - "Ukrainian helicopters" company held a regular Report-Back Meeting
On June 25, 2009 ?Ukrainian helicopters? company held a meeting at which the results of the company?s work for the period of 2008 and five months of 2009 were reported. The meeting aimed at providing data on the level of flight safety for the above mentioned reporting period.
The meeting was opened by V.V. Tkachenko, the Director General of the ?Ukrainian Helicopters? who pointed out that at present time the company occupies a leading position in Ukrainian aviation business. Thirteen Mi-8 MTB helicopters participated in United Nations Mission tasks in Madagascar, Mozambique and Myanmar and secured work of UN peacekeeping forces in Sudan, Haiti and The Ivory Coast, eight helicopters operated in Darfur, two ? in Sudan, two ? in Haiti and one - in The Ivory Coast.
As G.M. Kryvoshia, Inspector of flight safety, underlined in his speech, according to the classification of flight safety the company?s helicopters perform their work at a high professional level. The number of flight hours is impressive: only for 5 months period of 2009 the amount of flight hours constituted 67% of the overall amount for 2008. In addition, for the same period of time in 2009 the company?s aircraft transported 32 173 people, which is almost identical to the results of eight months of the preceding year of 2008. The total number of passengers and cargo transported equals to 53 112 and 2 884 accordingly.
The number of air personnel of the company has more than doubled: from 57 in 2007 to 149 in 2009. At present the company has 26 aircrews, their members undergo regular training in certified centres of civil aviation among which are the following: International Aviation Training Centre, Kremenchug Flight College, Aerolingva (an establishment of postdiploma education), National Aviation University.
One of the priority tasks of the company for the near future is enhancing the personnel?s proficiency in English to the fourth level (according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) which is a requirement of the International Civil Aviation Organization by 2011. The company is already actively working in this direction: thus members of the Flight Service regularly attend English courses, as a result of which 40 people have the fourth level, 40 people are at the third level and 30 people are at the second level of language proficiency.
Nevertheless enhancing the level of the safety of flights will always be a major task of the company. In the course of the meeting the personnel of the company received citations and bonuses.
