The formula for success of aviation company ?Ukrainian helicopters? is in well coordinated work of the professional team that is oriented to high-grade solution of efficient tasks, specialists training in accordance with modern international requirements. Particularly training of young professionals and intergenerational continuity ensure stability in the activity of the company and future development of prospects. The majority of the personnel of PJSC "AC "Ukrainian Helicopters" is represented by the former army officers. The Company management decided to create its own aviation training center to convert the skills of the employees for their work in civil aviation and to prepare them for flight operations on the international air routes.
After hard and long process of training program development, the approval in the State Aviation Administration of Ministry of Transportation of Ukraine and certification procedure, on the 29th of December 2009 the Aviation training center (ATC) started its activity in the company. It is the place where the flight crews enhance their professional level and pilots who came from the Ukrainian Armed Forces take classes which include academic, subjects flight simulator training and flight instruction. The training process is performed according to the following programs confirmed by the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine:
- Flight crew recurrent training program for qualifications upgrade Mi-8 MTV helicopters;
- Flight crew conversion training for Mi-8 MTV helicopter;
- Recurrent training program for air crews from other departments performing flights in the field of civil aviation of Ukraine;
- Flight attendants recurrent training program (Mi-8 MTV);
- Flight attendants primary training for Mi-8 MTV;
- Emergency-rescue training of flight crew members and flight attendants for Mi-8 MTV;
- Flight crew English proficiency training;
- Pilot-in-command training program;
- TRI, SFI, LI instructors training for Mi-8 MTV and its modifications;
- Flight crew training for operations in the mountains;
- Flight crew training for operations on international air routes.
17 instructors (among them 3 Candidates of Science and 1 Doctor of Engineering) work in the Aviation Training Center and pay special attention to individual approach in personnel training. An electronic database of trainees? performance grades is kept in the Center and helps trainers to analyze the results of their academic progress and determine activity direction with each trainee. Those who take classes at the Aviation training center are provided with manuals, lecture notes and all the necessary handouts. The Center is equipped with computer classrooms and high-tech interactive equipment. MI-8 MTV helicopters Training computer programs and general subjects are used at the lessons.

In the first half of 2010 177 flight crew members completed their training at the ?Ukrainian Helicopters? Aviation Training Center. Among them there were: 48 pilots and 20 flight engineers who took probation for MI-8MTV helicopter, 23 learners had English proficiency and aviation phraseology training, 13 persons ? instructors classes, 18 ? intensive English language studying, 31 pilots, 14 flight engineers, 10 flight attendants had classes on revising knowledge before departure to missions.
After completing a training course, the flight crews of PJSC ?AC "Ukrainian helicopters? perform aviation works in the United Nations Organization peacekeeping missions in the Republic of Sudan, Congo, Haiti, Ivory Coast, in difficult meteorological conditions in hot climate of high humidity, in mountainous and desert areas, over the water. The work of the Aviation Company pilots-in-command such as I. Ilyin, S.Yena, V.Lakotosh, J.Horbachev, I.Gerelin, co-pilots A.Turchin, V. Kryvosheja, flight engineers A.Crupyn, E. Suchkyn, flight attendants A.Veretyak, A. Mamaenko etc, is notable with their professional competence and devotion, which was evaluated by the UN missions managers.

One of the highly qualified specialists of PJSC ?AC "Ukrainian Helicopters? is a pilot-in-command Gylkyn Valerij. He began his career in the Company in 2004 as a co-pilot. With the time he proved to become a diligent specialist who constantly enhances his skills of a pilot and has achieved the English language fluency. The co-pilot Gylkyn V. was admitted to PIC training program as an apprentice. In 2008 he complited his training successfully, and from March till September 2009 he had been performing aviation works for the first time as a pilot-in-command in Sudan country which is known as one of the most dangerous regions of Africa. When the Aviation Training Center was founded Valery was sent to upgrade his qualification. Thanks to the developed training programs in ATC, using gained knowledge and experience, he showed great results. In 2010 Valery successfully carried out the flight from Kiev to Khartoum (Sudan) in IFR conditions showing how knowledge and skills gained during work and training helped him to cope with the task. Valery confirmed his pilot-in-command rank having the right to perform flight operations on international air routes.
His success is not the only pride of the Aviation Company. The pilots-in-command J.Bortnik, A. Gytnyk, V. Kostenko, V. Kondratenko, A. Chypournuk, S. Rastorguev, N. Hudyakov after retirement from Armed Forces of Ukraine started work in the Aviation Company and initially possessed only the very basic knowledge of aviation English and flight operation rules in civil aviation. But thanks to specially developed programs in ATC and their efforts they have learnt the international air rout flight basis, considerably improved their English level according to ICAO requirements. It allows them to perform the tasks successfully. At present all of them are working on contract in African countries.
The management of the Company aims to broaden and enhance the training programs in accordance with the civil aviation development of prospects in the nearest future.
